Why should one consider joining an ISAC?

A large proportion of successful attacks are driven by threat actors that have become more advanced in their tradecraft. Countries have discovered cyber espionage capabilities as effective tools for achieving state objectives while at the same time, criminal organizations have found new ways to exploit stolen data to augment their revenue streams. The targeted entities, whether they are corporations, agencies, or individual users, are struggling to secure their assets and remain under attack.

This leads to the dire need for threat intelligence sharing. ISACs provide this intelligence by aggregating data that is shared with them from security practitioners across all industry verticals. ISACs are the ideal way to receive information about what’s happening in your industry, the expertise of other ISAC members, and how your organization can better prepare to combat these threats.

Who should join an ISAC?

But ISACs are not just for experts! ISACs are designed to be inclusive organizations that go out of their way to offer robust communications with their members about an ever-changing threat landscape.

ISACs hold regular calls with ISAC committee members who discuss the latest cyber threats and ISAC management holds quarterly member calls.

Many ISACs also have open board meetings during which all ISAC members are invited to listen in with the opportunity to ask questions.

So what are you waiting for? There is an ISAC for any industry sector where cybersecurity practitioners share information, enhance collaboration, and protect their organizations. ISACs are the ideal way to share threat intelligence with other industry professionals who also recognize ISAC for its effectiveness in detecting cyber threats.

Full disclosure: While this article is not a sponsored article, as of this writing, I do currently work for Retail & Hospitality ISAC, the definitive ISAC for consumer-facing organizations.
